The Streets of Belfast

Street Photography Masterclass

What is it?

A fantastic way to start in this genre or to take your street photography to the next level.

In this workshop the emphasis will be on the capture of unposed, candid images of people that convey the essence and narrative of their surroundings.

I am delighted to be leading this workshop with Paul Crawford.

Throughout the day, we’ll be there every step of the way, splitting the participants into smaller groups. This will give you the opportunity to collaborate with each participant as well as have quality one-on-one time with Flavio and myself.

Who is Paul Crawford?

I met Paul when giving a talk about street photography on his online photography club: Photo Club 247, and I found out what a great human being he is. By the way, do check the club out, it’s an awesome resource for learning photography!

Paul is a professional photographer based in Belfast. He has been working in high street studios till 2010 and has been shooting over 1400 weddings. He specialises in teaching photography courses for beginners and in mentoring for photography business.

No matter your photography level, you’re in good hands with me and Paul!

What you will learn

  • Street Photography – what it is and what it isn’t

  • What lens is best for Street Photography

  • Camera & framing techniques for strong images

  • Challenges of Street Photography: Looking at ethics, law, consent.

  • Understanding behaviour and body language.

  • Build your Portfolio to tell a story

Is this the right Photography Workshop for me?

Experience Required

You should be familiar and confident with the use of Aperture Priority, ISO and Exposure Compensation. I will be on hand to offer advice and assistance on technical issues throughout the day.

What Equipment do I need?

This photography course is suitable for those with DSLR or Compact System Cameras. Any lens you own will be suitable for this street photography workshop, including a standard “kit zoom”. Advice on the best equipment for street photography will be discussed during the day.

What’s Provided?

The workshop is limited to just 12 people to allow plenty of opportunity for myself and Flavio to spend time offering extensive 1-2-1 tutoring time with each participant, helping you create and develop your own street and documentary photography style.
You will need to dress in suitable clothing for an outdoor photoshoot. There is a large amount of walking during this workshop so a reasonable level of fitness is required.

A light lunch will be provided and this is included in the price.
